The Day The Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt (Pictures by Oliver Jeffers)

After a bit of a trough in finding good kids' book, I was delighted with The Day The Crayons Quit.  The book doesn't feel dated – it was published in 2013.

I give this book top marks for originality and quirky humour.

Duncan's crayons spit the dummy and each write him a letter about their feelings.  And they are fun.
