Location – in the North West of England

 

Origin of name – The Duke of Lancaster is the Queen.  There is an extensive network of canals in the county.

Pronounciation – Lank + a + sheer

Nicknames – the Red Rose County

Famous businesses/brands – about 85% of all cotton worldwide used to be processed in the county!  Large defence industry.
