When I was a kid (last century), a hot dog was
something you bought from a truck at the races – it was a sausage on a stick
covered in crispy batter and dipped into tomato sauce. You might know these as corn dogs.
Now I understand most people think hot dogs are a
sausage stuck lengthways in a bun. And
with mustard, ketchup and onions…
But why dog??
Originally the 'dog' referred just to the sausage – maybe after a
sausage dog??
Hot dogs may not be good for you – but once in a blue
moon why not??
