Robert Plant (born on 20 August 1948,
so is 64 today) wrote the lyrics of Stairway
to Heaven– they work magically well but are obscure in meaning. Jimmy Page’s guitar work on the track is
sublime. An epic song by an epic British
rock band. Because of its length it was
never released as a single.
Conspiracy
theorists say that it has Satanic messages when played backwards!
Robert
Plant got sick of performing the song – he said “I’ll break out in hives if I
had to sing it in every show”.
