Carole King: An Unstoppable Force of Nature
There are some things that you may not know about Carole King. She was a superstar song writer and performer - and amazingly enough is still going strong.
- Neil Sedaka’s “Oh Carol” was written about her – spelling not his strong point? But I’m biased on the right way to spell Carole.
- Her real name was Carole Klein
- She co-wrote The Locomotion – along with a whole bunch of other wildly popular songs with her then husband Gerry Goffin.
- Her breakthrough solo album was “Tapestry” in 1971 – still one of the best albums ever made. It sold over 15 million copies.
- She starred on Broadway in “Blood Brothers”.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Every now and then, when doing donation drives, PBS shows a Carole King/James Taylor concert and I just never get sick of seeing it...always sing along (loudly) to my kids' dismay!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love Carole King! Thank you for the "captivated" title idea. I like that!
ReplyDeleteCarole King rocks! :)
ReplyDeleteOh just seeing that album cover cheered my morning! What a great LP it was - I can remember saving my pennies for it in the days when a record was a big investment. I could still sing (very badly) just about every word of it. Thanks for the reminder.
