Books
You Loved: April continued to provide reviews of great books. Thank you to
all. Here are a few that caught my eye:
The ever-reliable Elizabeth from Silver's Reviews gave
us The
Operator by Gretchen Berg. She
said 'THE OPERATOR is a light, comical,
enjoyable read that should be enjoyed by readers of all genres. 5/5'
We Came Here to Shine by Susie Orman Schnall was reviewed by Melissa. In her Goodreads review, she said 'This was such a delightful story! It made me think of The Bold Type, if the television series had taken place in 1939. …I really enjoyed this novel and couldn't put it down. I just had to find out what would happen.'
Tina of Novel Meals reviewed Educated
by Tara Westover. She said 'I couldn’t put
this book down. It’s well written and amazing to read about the obstacles
Westover had to overcome.' This is essential non-fiction
reading, in my opinion.
Finally, Captivated Reader reviewed Becoming
by Michelle Obama. Her review said 'Becoming is a nicely balanced
memoir focusing fairly equally on Michelle Obama's life from her childhood on
the south side of Chicago through the last day spent in the White House and
everything in between. I felt Michelle Obama was candid and genuine in the
telling of her life. She comes across as a confident, strong, caring, and
compassionate woman'
Now on to the May
edition. There are no rules for this
party. The only requirement is that your
post is about a book that you loved.
To add to the list just pop the name of the book (and
your name/blog name if you like) into the first Mr Linky box and then copy and
paste the url of your post about it into the second box. Mr Linky now also
makes you tick a box.
I'll be pinning your links to this
Pinboard to make it easier for
you to check them out at a glance. It
also has links from previous Mays…
thanks!
ReplyDeleteDone. Thanks for the shout-out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and the reminder! You mentioned ebooks in your email. It took some getting used to, but I enjoy them. I read them on an iPad mini, which is just the right size for me. That's what I usually read from before falling asleep, and I find it easier to hold while lying down than a paper book. Plus I love that I can tap on a word to get the definition, I can pull up all my highlighted quotes, and I can search for word or phrase or name if I am trying to remember something and can't remember where it is. I miss those features not when reading a paper and ink book.
ReplyDeletetx for the email. keep safe everyone
ReplyDeleteHey Carole, this month I have linked up the historical murder-mystery The Poison Bed and my comforting re-read of the wonderful classic Fra From the Madding Crowd.
ReplyDeleteIn your email you were on about finding different reading on your iPad. I can't read for very long on something that is backlit, so I have a paper ink Kindle that has a backlit option, which I rarely put on.
Thanks for being here. Gatherings mean so much these days.
ReplyDeleteI have mostly e-books coming in too.
ReplyDeleteYes...very different reading an e-book.
I used to read on my iPad and now I read on my Kindle. :)
Happy May!!
I'll add my books tomorrow.
I LOVED THE OPERATOR - thanks for featuring it. I think everyone will LOVE it.
Take care.
I've given you links to four terrific reads this month. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI just linked in The Dutch House by Ann Patchett. Thanks for the shout out for Educated. :😋
ReplyDeleteI just had to add two books this month. "Why Women Read Fiction" is highly recommendable for any woman who likes to read - fiction or non-fiction. A Christmas present from my son.
ReplyDelete"We the Living" Is a book I should have read decades ago. I hope many other readers will follow.
I finally have a 5 star read to share with the group, Rules for Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson, I loved it!
