Counties of the UK: Essex



This is the next instalment of my monthly feature going through the Counties of the UK in alphabetical order to check out things of interest.  I hope you enjoy it


Location – One of the home counties (the others are
Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.)  Deep estuaries on the coast result in Essex having the longest coast of any county.

  1. I was born in Essex. It has a village called Ugley. Southend Pier is the longest pier, with its own train (and Jamie Oliver’s cafe at the end) Saffron Walden used to grow amazing crops of saffron in Tudor times. A beautiful county
