Fortune
Cookies are not traditional in China – but are traditional in
Chinese restaurants in the US and elsewhere. It is thought by some that they
were actually introduced by Japanese immigrants but production was taken over
by Chinese manufacturers when Japanese people were interned during the war.
Apparently some cookies contain a list of lucky numbers – and when those
numbers came up in a lottery there were a lot of winners – since the same
numbers recurred … not very lucky after all.
Apparently there is an ongoing meme where you add the
words "in bed" to the end of the message with hilarious results.
