Foodie Friday – Shirley Temple

Legend has it that the Shirley Temple was created for the child star.  But she is on record saying that she doesn't like the drink – too sweet.

Whatever the drinks history it is a non-alcoholic special drink that can make kids feel like they are footing it with the grown-ups.

The traditional Shirley Temple is a mix of ginger ale with a splash of grenadine and a maraschino cherry.  Grenadine is a tart/sweet syrup – so I think I might actually like this drink.

Modern versions sometimes swap out the ginger ale for lemon lime soda.
