Foodie Friday – Bread has lots of superstitions

I was surprised to learn of the many superstitions involving bread.  Here are some of them:

While bread is baking the baker should not sing

A loaf must always be upright when sitting on the table – otherwise some bad luck is around the corner.

If a buttered slice falls onto the floor, butter side up, you'll be getting a visitor soon.

A pair of superstitions about taking the last slice – if you are a single woman you'll stay single – but a single man will marry someone rich – how unfair is that!

Eating lots of bread will put hair onto a young boy's chest.
