Recently I posted about Divergent –
the first book in the trilogy. This is
the second. And I've figured out why I
enjoyed it so much despite the violence.
The violence is very deftly handled – almost has a
cartoon quality – a bit like Janet Evanovich's approach in her Stephanie Plum
books. And in the future there are some
very quick and effective fixes for injuries which also lessens any potential
gruesomeness.
The second book, if anything, was even better. I'm sure some people very seriously analyse
the meaning behind the factions and what happens – but I just treated it as a
fast paced exciting ride.
I still need to read Allegiant. Thanks for the nudge!
ReplyDeleteI was so bummed to hear that they decided not to make #3 (Allegiant) into a movie. The book series is great.
