Tea, crackers and marmite

If I ever have an upset stomach and can't face food, I resort to drinking weak black tea and eating thin crackers with a smear of Marmite on them.  I'm not sure if it makes any medical sense but it seems to work.  What do you do?

PS  We Kiwis (New Zealanders) love our Marmite.  In Australia their favourite spread is Vegemite – which is similar but different.  Both are very strong tasting spreads and need to be used sparingly!

  1. When I went to Uni and lived in digs, my Mum said to my landlady "If she is ever upset, give her tea, toast and Marmite" Forty years on, this remedy still works!! I tried Vegemite, but don't really get on with it.

  3. Drink mint or ginger tea to settle tummy aches... Ginger is great for relieving nausea and motion sickness too.

  4. Upset tummy? I like to drink Peppermint tea or nibble on crystallized ginger (in lieu of that, I sip on ginger ale.)

  6. Growing up my mother always used to make me cream of chicken soup and with it I used to have a packet of ready salted crisps. I don't know if it really makes me feel better or if its just nostalgia but I get it myself when I feel ill now.
