Food on Friday: Capers & Olives

The theme for this Food on Friday are those salty delights – capers & olives.  And I have another little surprise for you, too.

To add your dish featuring capers and/or olives, just put the name of the dish together with your blog name/name into the first Mr Linky box you will find below.  Then paste the url for your post about it into the second box.

I'll be pinning the caper/olive links to this Pinboard – this is a quick way for you to scan the dishes and choose which ones you want to check out in more detail.

You will have spotted that there are 2 Mr Linky boxes at the bottom of this post – use the first Food on Friday one for dishes featuring capers or olives.

Since the theme is fairly restricted I have decided to add a second collection where you can add one dish of your choice that you would like to share – no theme – I've called this Anything Goes.  I'll pin your dishes to a relevant Pinboard too.  If you like this idea I'll do it each time the theme is a narrow one.

Have fun!

  6. Have a great Christmas Carole! Thanks for hosting these, they are fun to go through when I have a certain ingredient I want to use. Today I've given you my Tuna Carpaccio using capers (since I just bought more yesterday, I'm addicted to the stuff!) and my Dim Sum Pork Buns. They were a big hit with the kids!

  7. Thanks for a fun year of Food on Friday. Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

  8. Carole, this has been a fun year of Food on Fridays! Have a terrific 2015!

  9. My fish recipe contains both capers & olives!

  10. Ahhh, I forgot to add the title of my dish!!!

  11. Carole,
I've linked up an assortment of caper-added dishes since I love the flavor of a sprinkle of capers atop a bagel or in tomato sauce. I should resolve to work with them more in 2015, but I've just finished a busy week of daily posts and shouldn't make any resolutions until I've recovered--and that's not going to happen until after the holidays.
I've also linked up a few olive-containing recipes. I didn't used to like olives, because I'd only ever had black ones in dishes. When my spouse returned from his first Iraq deployment he'd developed the habit of eating olives with his salads, and purchased green olives. Those are actually pretty good, and now I enjoy a variety of olives.
Finally, I've linked up a very special post--my mother's lefse. I am fortunate to be able to record my mom talking through how she learned to make lefse--while demonstrating how to make lefse--and I created a post to save this memory for my kids. If you get lefse, you'll get it. If not--it's a flat soft potato bread that Norwegians and Norwegian Americans eat spread with butter and brown sugar and is my favorite part of Christmas.
Happy Christmas to you and yours!
