I heard it through the grapevine by Marvin Gaye

 

Like many people I first fell in love with the classic Marvin Gaye track I heard it through the grapevine through the fab film The Big Chill.

Marvin Gaye didn't write the song himself but  released it in 1968.  The song is number 80 on the Rolling Stone's list of the best 500 songs of all time.

Marvin Gaye died a day before turning 45 in 1984 – sadly he was shot by his own father using a gun that Marvin had given him as a present.  Gone much too soon.
