Southbank, Melbourne

Southbank Melbourne

If you are ever visiting Melbourne, think about staying on the Southbank.  The river that runs through the city is called the Yarra.

The Southbank has a collection of art galleries, theatres, museums and restaurants, a large casino – all good fun.  And it is just across a pedestrian bridge to the city's central area.  The Southbank promenade is where it's all at.

I stayed quite a few times at the Sheraton Towers hotel on the Southbank (luckily it was for work so I wasn't paying!).  The hotel is opulent and the room rates match.  But breakfast was included which was very much a mixed blessing.

Melbourne is a great city for culture, great food and interesting shopping – and the people are interesting too.
