Giverny

Monet house, Giverny

Giverny (which is just north of Paris) is a village where the wonderful garden (and house) where Monet painted his famous water lily paintings is.  I went there on the first morning of a river cruise and found it quite enchanting.

It is an extremely popular tourist spot so the fact that our little group got to go there half an hour before the general opening time was a blessing.  This would be a good place to visit even without the Monet connection.

The interior of the house is also interesting.  Love the colours in this dining room.

There was a little shop where I bought this little jug – I just loved the Provençal colours – it is a bit small to be useful though.  So often when you are travelling you have to compromise on the size of the things you buy.

  1. I've seen a couple of great Monet exhibitions and always wanted to go to Giverny, never made it. Yet. I am determined to go there one day.
