Ella
Fitzgerald was born on 25 April in 1917 – towards the end of WWI. The 25th April is a public holiday
in New Zealand and Australia every year – it is Anzac Day.
Ella
was, of course, a wonderful jazz singer.
She won 13 Grammy's. Favourite
Ella songs of mine include – Mack the Knife. Lady Be Good, Don’t Be That Way and A Fine Romance.
Also my daughter's birthday! I've been listening to a more current band on Pandora (Alabama Shakes) but every once in a while an Ella Fitzgerald song will pop up and make me smile. Such a beautiful voice!
ReplyDeleteI always listen to her when I just want to chill. I love the ones you mentioned, but I also love "Miss Otis Regrets" although I'm sure the subject matter may bother some, it's just a song in which you feel the heart and pain of the singer.
ReplyDeleteAww Ella. She's a classic!
ReplyDeleteElla was a one of a kind performer - a unique voice and range.
