Cottage Pie with two twists

Cottage Pie with two twists by Carole of Carole's Chatter

A cottage pie is usually made with beef mince and a potato mash topping.  I changed this one up by using a mix of sausage meat, chicken mince and lamb mince instead of ground beef.

The other twist was that I topped it with a mash of cauliflower and potato to lighten things up a tad.  I just very lightly boiled the cauliflower and it mashed up fine with the cooked potato.

The result was still yummy comfort food.

For how I normally approach Cottage Pie or Shepherd's Pie you can have a look at this post

  1. I bet your combination of meat was very good. Sausage and lamb is always good to me and I bet the chicken added a nice touch. Love the mashed cauliflower on top too!

  4. I always mix up the meats that I use but I love the cauliflower idea. What a great way to trick the kids. :)
