Keep Calm and Carry On poster

This iconic poster – Keep Calm and Carry On - was actually created in 1939 by the British Government against the event that the Germans invaded.  It was intended to support the morale of the Great British public.    The Government printed 2.5 million copies but the poster was never issued because the Germans never invaded.  No one knew much about the poster until it was re-discovered in 2000 and popularised in many forms – not the least of which are some of these spoof ones!












In my opinion the original poster is a great design classic – simple and powerful.

    One man wants to copyright the phrase as his - I believe it belongs to the people so I have signed the petition. I blogged about my KC poster ages ago, [http://angalmond.blogspot.co.uk/2009/01/keep-calm-and-carry-on.html]before he started his legal fight, and my blogpost is part of the legal evidence for the opposition!!

      I'm a little blown away by this whole scenario! Is he the man that created the phrase for the govt back in ww2?
      I'll definitely be checking out the links when I get home to my PC.

    I love the original, but I want the "Keep Calm and Bake" one :) I would frame it and hang it in my kitchen!!
