Flag of the Week – Slovakia

The basic idea for the flag of Slovakia goes back to 1848 and was adopted when Slovakia became independent again in 1993.  The red, white and blue are traditional Slav colours.  The coat or arms has a double cross set upon the central hill of 3 hills – based on part of the arms of Hungary.
