Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain

You might have seen the chef Anthony Bourdain on TV.  But I think that by far the best thing he has done was to write the book "Kitchen Confidential".  He is currently the Executive Chef at Brasserie Les Halles in New York.

You don't have to be into food or restaurants to enjoy the book.  It gives a pretty no holds barred account of what life is like in a professional kitchen.  The subtitle of the book is Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly".  It has been described as "witty" and "rambunctious" – now that's a word you don't see often these days.

He is often rude about vegans and vegetarians – which doesn't please many people.  But he is passionate about food and writes well.
