Solution for 13 June cryptic crossword clue

Very simple? Yes, ape, as I set out (4,2,3)

Solution – Easy as pie

The clue that the solution is the result of scrambling some letters (ie an anagram) is easy to miss here – it is the words "set out".

If you count the letters in "Yes, ape, as I", you will see that they match the total number of letters in the solution.

And the saying "easy as pie" means that something is "very simple".  I am not sure why the setter included the question mark – just to be tricky probably.
