Gee-gee taking it easy – it helps to conserve
energy (6,7)
Solution – Double
glazing
A fun little
clue. You might think a “gee-gee” refers
to a horse – and, of course it could, but here it refers to the letter “g” but
not two of them as I first thought – a double g in fact. Then you add “lazing” for “taking it easy”
and you get “double glazing” which of course helps to conserve energy. I like the way this clue has some meaning
overlap between its two parts. This clue
came from a Times cryptic puzzle that was in the Dominion. The Time’s puzzles are hard but always clever
and rewarding when you do figure them out.
