In the Midnight Hour – Wilson Pickett

This was written in an afternoon in a Memphis motel room.  And recorded the very next day.  The motel was the one that subsequently became famous when Martin Luther King was assassinated there.

The song reached No 1 on the R&B charts but only No 21 on the pop charts.  Wilson Pickett also wrote Mustang Sally.

Pickett was born on this day in 1941
