Hi Carole! I'm following you now! I love that quote. We used a character lesson with it where students were supposed to crumple the piece of paper and think of it as an act of name calling on another student. Then they were to uncrumple the paper while apologizing. Then they were to recognize the fact that, even though the paper is flatter, it still bears the marks of being hurt just like we all do when we are called names.
