Pah Homestead - last day of Trusttum exhibition, Monte Cecilia Park

Today is the last day of the Philip Trusttum exhibition at the Pah Homestead.  It is a very large exhibition of his work all owned by the Wallace Foundation.  I ended up enjoying the work without being entranced by it.

The Pah Homestead itself is a very attractive setting.  The cafĂ© is good (but not spectacular) – its peaceful outlook over Monte Cecilia Park is lovely. There is a little shop with art books, some very nice jewellery and other fun objects.  A good place to get an unusual gift.

The homestead was built in the late 1870’s and at the time was the largest home in Auckland.  The Catholic church purchased the property and its extensive grounds in 1913.  The Auckland Council purchased it in 2002 and did a very good job of renovating the homestead.  The park is much larger than I had imagined.
