The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett

Despite this being a chunky read I enjoyed it so much that I ordered up the book it was a prequel to – The Pillars of the Earth – but the library copy had such small print I gave up.

So this is historical fiction at its best.  To read more about it see Marianne's post - https://momobookblog.blogspot.com/2022/11/follett-ken-evening-and-morning.html

  2. Thank you so much for this, Carole. I believe there cannot be enough advertisement for this wonderful series. Sorry that The Pillars of the Earth was such a bad print. You should definitely try again with another copy, maybe you can get a used one somewhere?
In any case, I have read all four books of the series:

"The Evening and the Morning" (Kingsbridge #0.5) - 2020
"The Pillars of the Earth" (Kingsbridge #1) - 1989
    "World Without End" (Kingsbridge #2) - 2007
    "A Column of Fire" (Kingsbridge #3) - 2017
and am looking forward to #5: The Armour of Light which will be published in September 2023.
