I also really enjoyed this Australian novel. Don't worry it's not full of snakes, spiders and crocodiles.
Mercy suffers from anxiety – badly. She can't work and then her house burns down. She ends up accidentally buying a old little van and sets off to drive from Adelaide to Darwin. That's over 3000 kilometers ( approx. 1850 miles)
You'll enjoy the trip and the things Mercy encounters along the way.
