The heroine? of Before She Disappeared is one of a kind – engaging, flawed, real. I have ordered the second book with her as a protagonist already.
So what can I tell you about this book without spoiling it. Frankie Elkin is someone who has overcome (or is overcoming ) some difficulties who ends up tracing missing persons (mostly young women) all over the place in the US – she doesn't seek payment or publicity. She supports herself by working as a bartender. She is middle aged (also refreshing).
Lisa Gardner is a very accomplished author who has really had a major hit with this one – do give it a go.
One very small gripe – there is a dream sequence in the prologue – don't be put off – skip it if you like – it doesn't match the quality of the rest of the book.
