Léger - The Builders

This colourful work of art dates back to 1950.  It shows 6 construction workers on a high rise building.  Health and safety folks today would not be impressed.

The artist integrates the men with the structure with the colours used and also shapes.  There is almost a comic book feel.

The artist was French.  He started out as an architectural draughtsman.

  1. Nowadays that book would have the subtitle: Why Women live longer than men. It reminds me of that picture of New York workers having their breakfast on one of those high rise constructions.
