The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

Oh, I am so glad to have read this one. It was published in 1961 but I had never read it or heard of it before.

They describe it as a chlldren's fantasy adventure novel – but it is not at all like, say, Harry Potter.

This book is a joy – it delights in word play, busting clichés and showing just how much there is in the world to interest even a bored little 10 year old boy, called Milo.

You even learn a bit about numbers and human nature.  Do get this one out from the library.
