Ok this painting of children roasting potatoes is just lovely. It was painted in 1898. But I have never heard of the artist.
The artist, with the mouthful of a name, was Portuguese (born in the Azores in 1856)
He moved to Paris and then later to the south coast of Brittany. He died at the age of 82 in 1939.
This is a charming painting; there are so many painters who are overlooked and less known than their talent warrants. Thanks for finding him for us.
