I don't make a habit of posting about videos. But this one was so good I have made an exception.
The storyline is about a widower and widow who get together after 60 years and decide to get married. They both have a daughter and grandchildren.
The widow – Celia is played by Anne Reid (Valerie Barlow in Corrie and Jean in Dinnerladies). A masterful performance of someone who stuck it out in an unhappy marriage and has trouble adjusting to happiness. You'll find yourself being annoyed and entertained by her.
Alan is played by Derek Jacobi – another powerful performance as a gentle caring soul – who loved his wife but never forgot his teenage love.
This is good TV by the BBC. Funny heart-warming and occasionally tear jerking. It won best drama series in 2013. And 3 of the 4 leads are females over 40!
I can't wait to get my hands on Series 2.
