Caroline Bay is apparently the most popular beach in the South Island. It is just on the outskirts of Timaru.
It is a park and a sandy beach.
You can find a colony of little penguins in the Bay.
The Trevor Griffiths Rose Gardens.
Lots of public artworks.
The bay formed as a result of the creation of an artificial harbor for Timaru. The Council decided to turn it into a European style beach resort.
The Bay is named after a ship – the only way it could be improved is if its name was Carole Bay – just saying!
