Mighty Quinn – Manfred Mann

Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the Mighty Quinn
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the Mighty Quinn

Everybody's building ships and boats
Some are building monuments, others are jotting down notes
Everybody's in despair, every girl and boy
But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here
Everybody's gonna jump for joy

Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the Mighty Quinn

Bob Dylan wrote the song also known as Quinn the Eskimo and it was first recorded in 1967 and released by the British group Manfred Mann in 1968.

The song is said to have been inspired by the 1960 movie The Savage Innocents – starring Anthony Quinn.

The song has been covered by numerous artists including Grateful Dead and The Hollies.

Go the Mighty Quinn!

  1. In the 1960s, my needlework teacher was the sister in law of Paul Jones, lead singer of MM. He used to arrive at school in his red sports car to pick her up sometimes! Two years ago I actually met him and his lovely wife Fiona and we talked about those days. 10 years ago I tutored a boy whose surname was Quinn. I always called him Mighty. He never knew the song till I told him about it. Happy memories!
