St Joseph was Mary's husband. He was said to have been of royal descent through the line of David. He was a carpenter.
He is the patron of families, fathers, manual workers, the homeless, exiles and travelers.
His emblems are the Bible, a branch, carpenter's tools, ladder, lamb and a lily. It's his day today.
