My Sweet Lord – George Harrison

My sweet Lord
Mm, my Lord
Mm, my Lord

I really want to see you
Really want to be with you
Really want to see you, Lord
But it takes so long, my Lord

My sweet Lord
Mm, my Lord
Mm, my Lord

I really want to know you
I really want to go with you
Really want to show you, Lord
That it won't take long, my Lord
(Hallelujah)

My Sweet Lord was top of the charts in the UK and US for 1971.  It was written by George Harrison after the Beatles split up. He was influenced both by Christianity and the Hare Krishnas.

Harrison lost a copyright infringement action and it was found that he had subconsciously copied a Chiffon's song – He's So Fine.  Whatever the controversy, this was one heck of a song.

Many other artists have covered the song – including, Peggy Lee, Nina Simone, Boy George and Elton John.
