St Dorothy – feast day 6 February

St Dorothy was a virgin martyr from around 304 AD.  She is patron of florists, gardeners, brewers and bridal couples.  Her emblem is a basket of flowers and fruit.

She refused to marry or to worship her family's pagan gods.  She was taunted mercilessly by one Theophilis who challenged her to send him flowers and fruit from Paradise.  Which was delivered to him by an angel during the next winter.  So there!
