This non fiction book is sub-titled 'an introvert's year of living dangerously'. The author, Jessica Pan, is a journalist who writes very entertainingly and engagingly about a year in which she decided to try to get over her crippling shyness.
While I was left in a little doubt about whether everything happened exactly as described, it made a good story. If you are shy or introverted, you might enjoy this. And if you are an extrovert it might help you to understand people who aren't.
And the author's perspective as an American living in the UK was illuminating.
She went to do a stand-up routine at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – got stage struck and blurted out that she was an American and loved England! This got the reception it deserved in Scotland.
