You need to be determined to go to New Chums Beach
(Wainuiototo in Te Reo). You have to go
on foot for about half an hour before you can get there. Or you could get there by boat.
It is a pristine beautiful beach – mostly I suspect
because it is difficult to reach.
You'll find New Chums on the Coromandel Peninsula – The
track leaves from the northern end of Whangapoua If you want to get up to a vantage point
above the beach – be warned this is a steep and tricky track.
There is no development on the beach – no shops, no
baches (summer homes), nothing.
