The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

I was on the library list for this one right from its publication date.  I was reassured by the review by Judy of Keep the Wisdom that I would like the book.

It did take me a while to get into it – in fact I had a couple of week's gap before starting and resuming it.  I finally finished it as a result of seeing a short interview with the author on BBC.

I don't think it's quite as compelling as The Handmaid's Tale but it was well worth the read.  The story happens much later and is narrated through 3 women – Aunt Lydia, Baby Nicole and Agnes.

You do end up getting a more rounded idea of what drove the evil in Aunt Lydia. I wasn't as emotionally invested but do recommend you get this one from the library.

  2. Thank you for the review. I've read just one of her books and found it compelling. This doesn't seem to fall into that category.
