If I Had a Hammer – A song for then and now?

If I had a hammer,
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening,
All over this land

I'd hammer out danger,
I'd hammer out a warning,
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.

Some Peter, Paul & Mary for you today.  If I Had a Hammer was written in 1949 but was a hit much later in 1962 for Peter, Paul & Mary.

This song was a protest song.  Still seems pretty apt for today, don't you think?

  1. It's a much kinder protest song than those written today, that's for sure!
