If
I had a hammer,
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening,
All over this land
I'd hammer out danger,
I'd hammer out a warning,
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening,
All over this land
I'd hammer out danger,
I'd hammer out a warning,
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.
Some Peter, Paul & Mary for you today. If I Had a Hammer was written in 1949
but was a hit much later in 1962 for Peter, Paul & Mary.
This song was a protest song. Still seems pretty apt for today, don't you
think?
It's a much kinder protest song than those written today, that's for sure!
