Park
Avenue Summer is set in New York in the mid-60's. A country girl comes to the big city and
lands the job of secretary to Helen Gurley Brown (editor of Cosmopolitan).
This could have been corny but wasn't. It captured the times well and kept me
interested. Fiction based on some real
events and people can be a bit of a worry but the author's note at the end was
candid about the line between fiction and fact.
You read such interesting books! I’ll look for this one!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so interesting. Helen Gurley Brown - that has to be good.
ReplyDeleteI agree that fiction based on some real events and featuring some real people can be problematic, but when they are good, they can be very good and it sounds like this one was.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how this novel was. Glad you found it good.
