Park Avenue Summer by Renee Rosen

Park Avenue Summer is set in New York in the mid-60's.  A country girl comes to the big city and lands the job of secretary to Helen Gurley Brown (editor of Cosmopolitan).

This could have been corny but wasn't.  It captured the times well and kept me interested.  Fiction based on some real events and people can be a bit of a worry but the author's note at the end was candid about the line between fiction and fact.

Want to be transported back to the days of smoke filled bars, cocktails and beehive do's? – this is for you!

  3. I agree that fiction based on some real events and featuring some real people can be problematic, but when they are good, they can be very good and it sounds like this one was.
