The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

The Silent Patient is not what I call a good read or an easy read.  This book is a taut psychological thriller involving a mental patient who hasn't spoken for years and a psychotherapist who is trying to help her.

The book hooks you and then you get a bit confused.  Clarity is achieved at the end – an ending that some would find shocking.

I suspect not many psychiatrists or psychotherapists would approve of Theo's methods (or motives) – but the author isn't one so I guess he doesn't mind.

  1. Ha! I could not get along with this book, the characters or the author. I thought the whole thing was a sham.

  2. This is on my wish list so I appreciate the honest review. Sounds like a book I need to be in the right mood and frame of mind in order to read.
