Food in Art - Giovanna Garzoni bowl of cherries and carnations

I just love the look of these cherries.  The carnations not so much.  Giovanna Garzoni was a 17^th Century Italian female painter.

She was clearly very talented.  She chose to remain celibate even during a short marriage.  So she was also very determined not to follow the common mold.
