The Rúin by Dervla McTiernan

The Rúin is a detective story set in Ireland = not my normal fare but I was gripped by it. The hero is Cormac Reilly.  He was involved in a sudden death case when he was a rookie and then 20 years later has moved to Galway to be with his partner and gets involved in a case that has links to that earlier death.

The author lives in Australia but was a solicitor in Ireland and I'll be getting my hands on anything else she writes.  This was her debut.
