This resulted in delicately flavoured potatoes. Would be easier if you had a food processor
or mandolin.
Ingredients:
Potatoes sliced as thinly as you can
Finely sliced onion
1 cup beer (I used lager)
Salt
Butter
½ cup of cream
Method:
Pre-heat your oven to as hot as you dare.
Slice your onion and potatoes
Put a layer of onion in the bottom of your dish – no need
to grease it first
Then alternate layers of potato and onion finishing
with potato on top. Overlap the potato
slices. Salt each layer.
Pour the beer over the potatoes.
Put thin shavings of butter on top.
Put it in the oven and after 10 minutes lower the
temperature a bit. Give it another 40
minutes and then pour the cream over the potatoes – as evenly as you can. After 10 more minutes in the oven you are finished.
Please note there is no pepper or cheese in this recipe
but it was still tasty.
I'm going to try this!! I'm not a beer drinker but we always have some on hand for Louis Dean and his son.....
ReplyDeleteMinus the onions I'll be in on this!
ReplyDeleteSo different — in a good way. I’ll have to give this a try
ReplyDeleteI think this will be a great recipe for my three men (hubby and two grown-up sons, LOL). Thank you.
