Here is the next instalment of my monthly feature going
through the States of the United States in alphabetical order to check out how
they got named, what their flag is like and other things of interest. Rhode Island has some of its own words – like
bubbler for drinking fountain, cabinets for milkshakes and grinder for any over
stuffed foot long sandwich.
Location –
Rhode Island is the smallest State in terms of land area. But its population density is the second
highest.
Origin
of name – Rhode Island's official name is the
State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations – a
bit of a mouthful. Despite its name most
of the State is on the mainland.
