Arborsculpture
is making sculptures by training living plants.
This pic caught my eye from a National Geographic book.
It is also used to describe shaping trees into useful
structures. In India they have trained
trees to cross rivers and form bridges.
I don't think I'd have the patience – I imagine this takes a long time
to achieve.
You can find some quite amazing examples if you tootle
around on Google Images.
No, I had never heard of this. After looking at some pictures, it's kind of like bonsai on a larger scale.
ReplyDeleteI had not heard of that before but I have one of my own. My oldest son built wooden steps up outr old elm tree back when it was younger. The tree grew around some of the wood. The tree is dead now and we must get it topped off this year. I'm still grieving its loss.....
