Good Vibrations – The Beach Boys

I-I love the colorful clothes she wears
And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair
I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air

I'm pickin' up good vibrations
She's giving me the excitations (oom bop bop)
I'm pickin' up good vibrations (good vibrations, oom bop bop)
She's giving me the excitations (excitations, oom bop bop)

I remember being mesmerised by this song when it came out – it was simply not like anything else I had heard.  Of course, I was knee-high to a grasshopper back then!

The troubled genius Brian Wilson wrote it – but it did't come easy. He worked on the song for over 9 months in the studio. He threw everything at it – jazz harmonies, R&B, stings and the theremin – an electronic instrument.  The lyric was added after the music was done.

Good Vibrations was one of the many great songs released in 1966.  Those were the days – do you remember these?
